Intel and China ZTE Launched High-end Smartphone GEEK Together

Yesterday, China ZTE (a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions) and Intel jointly released a smartphone called GEEK. This is another big action of this year after Intel and Lenovo cooperatively launched a high-end cell phone. With the development of the mobile Internet, Intel which once merged with Microsoft as the Wintel alliance and dominated in the PC market is now accelerating the layout of the mobile computing platform.

It is understood that the smart phone GEEK which was launched together by Intel and ZTE is coming with 2.0GHz dual-core Intel Atom processor, 5.0-inch screen, and targeting the high-end market. Intel Greater China Mobile Wireless Sales Director Zhao Dayong said that the Intel processors in the mobile terminal cost higher in the high-end market and it has worked well with Lenovo and Motorola before to release some good quality smart phones.

According to ZTE, GEEK phone will be the first to go public sources, which is also an action that ZTE began to gradually reduce over-reliance on operators. ZTE vice president, general manager of mobile phones operators Wang Yong said that the speed of launching the future phones will have a slight change, due to the fact that it takes some time to work with the operators , new channels will be the first to list in the open, and then launch operator’s customized versions later.
